Book presentation
Written by the author Chiara Pasqualetti Johnson and published in October 2021. This book traces the extraordinary lives of fifty women who made history by overcoming a patriarchal society and carving out a place for themselves in a man's world. It features women from all nationalities and generations since the 20th century, such as Simone de Beauvoir, Rosa Parks, Josephine Baker…
Marie Curie
Marie Curie is one of the women featured in the book. She is particularly interesting because she is one of the few women who escaped the Matilda effect. Although she lived for a time in the shadow of her husband Pierre Curie, she managed to make her marks in science. She became the first woman to receive two Nobel Prizes and to become a professor at the Sorbonne.
